Dear Rundle Families
I hope you had a chance to get outside and enjoy the wonderful weekend as we said, "Good-bye," to summer and "Hello," to Fall. We have been very fortunate with the terrific weather we have had, and this upcoming week looks sunny and warm.
Spirit Week and Terry Fox Run
Last week Rundle came together wearing our pajamas, and blue and red shirts; drinking lots of water, walking and running to support the Terry Fox Run. Thank you to all who participated in all activities and donated a ‘Toonie for Terry.’ If you would still like to donate to the Terry Fox Run, please have your child bring their donation to the office so it can be added to the money already collected. Thank you for your generous support.
Meet the Teacher Evening
This Thursday, September 26, 5:00-7:00pm, Rundle will be hosting our Meet the Teacher evening. This is an informal, drop-in opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher and see your child’s classroom, while playing a little Rundle Bingo along the way. It is too early in the school year to discuss specific details regarding your child’s academic progress, or specific learning needs. These conversations will happen in November, or arranged with your child’s teacher at a later, mutually agreed upon time.
We are looking forward to meeting you and working together as partners in your child’s education. We hope to see you in Rundle School on Thursday evening.
Orange Shirt Day and Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
CBE remains committed to truth and reconciliation, to create a sense of belonging and connection for students and employees. Here at CBE, we will be aligning our activities with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation by identifying Sept. 23 to 27 as CBE Truth and Reconciliation Week.
To honour this commitment, during the morning of Thursday, September 26, Rundle School will have an assembly followed by a walk around the dry pond to learn, recognize and reflect on the need for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.
September 30 is Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. All CBE schools and offices will be closed in observance of this enabling staff, students and their families to continue their education and show their support through the Orange Shirt Day event - A collaboration between the City of Calgary, CBE, Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Police Service and Calgary Fire Department - or by attending one of the many community events that are meaningful to you.
No School – Friday, September 27, 2024
Friday, September 27 is a CBE system-wide, non-instructional day. Therefore, students do not attend school this Friday.
As indicated above, Monday, September 30, is also a non-instructional day creating a 4-day weekend for students.
Have a great week!
Joan Stoesz
Assistant Principal, Rundle School
